an update

What to say about this enigmatic little man who tumbled, or should I say shot, into our lives just nine months ago?

I marvel that he's been on the outside as long as he lived on the inside now. Wow.

This morning he briefly stood up all alone with no support on the bed. He then toppled but we can already hear the gallop of little feet. It's not far off now.

He makes more sounds...lots of random squeals, something close to muh, and he giggles when we behave like monkeys on crack. Amazing what two, relatively-well-educated, intelligent, almost-40 and 40-year-olds will do to elicit that sound.

He loves music. He seems to like hip hop a lot. I'm convinced it's the beat. He will bob his head up and down to it. I took him with me to Luna Fair, an art and music by women event. He liked the Hula dancers a lot and he REALLY loved the drummers. Perhaps a musician or a dancer? Who knows?

He began to assert his will in the past few weeks, most notably over the weekend with his car seat. When faced with the restraint, he immediately arches his back (very much like a deep back bend or Fish in yoga) and protests loudly. My. From sunny to stormy in two seconds flat. He has also begun voicing his displeasure at the removal of something that he wants or one of us.

He amazes us. Inspires us. Makes us feel very lucky to be his mommy and daddy.
