So much to report...

and not much time to write at the moment. Our little love continues to delight, amaze and inspire. He pushes up on his legs and can stand with balancing help; he can sort of wiggle/commando crawl; he lifts his head and shoulders up and, with assistance, can sit up. He smiles all the time, never meets a stranger, rarely cries and, once his need is met, calms. He is a joy beyond joy, a gift beyond gifts, more magical than any experience we've ever had. This parent thing rocks.

More details soon...for now, let some photos suffice: New Photos of Miles

Miles made the news...

Miles showed up briefly on the news last night. Some reporters came out to interview his dad about the rough farm year--G gets interviewed a lot. Apparently they were smitten with the buddled up little boy in the Baby Jogger and visions of his dad shuffling him, picking turnips, etc.

Today the day started at around 18 degrees. Yes. I said 18 degrees. Last week at this time it was 70 degrees. Not kidding. I went for a walk over lunch and had to shed my sweater (luckily I had a tank top under it). Ah, Missouri. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes...

I have to confess, the turn of weather has allowed me to begin to put Miles in his cute winter hat collection. Someone should just shoot me now. He has a couple of Hanna Andersson jester's hats, a bear hat with earflaps and a Columbia fleece with ear flaps. I even got him tiny little mittens on a string to go with his Hanna fleece jacket and bunting. I know. I'm insane. I'm also really good at resale shopping so none of it cost much. And the holiday outfits, oh, I can HARDLY WAIT! Reindeer, snowmen, little elf and Santa suits...

Manifesting reality

Lovely weekend. Lots of social time. Lots of rest. Lots of time with ourlittle boy. (Eek! It still feels weird to say it!)

Friday Guy came by the office late in the day and we ended up grabbing a quick dinner at Chipotle. We walked with Miles a bit, then headed home. I lay down, ostensibly for just a bit to nurse Miles, but the oxytocin kicked in and I fell asleep.

Miles and I actually made it to the farmers' market by 9:30 a.m. A first for us. We had a fine time chatting, wandering around, working with Daddy, watching the musicians play mandolin, fiddle and cello. Miles got his first balloon. He was transfixed. He would reach for it, then lose it, then reach again. It was very cool watching him be so very entertained and delighted.

I got to talk with quite a few folks and then, to really top it off, we went out for lunch after the market with a handful of folks. It was nice. Miles charmed everyone and didn't fuss a bit.

We spent the rest of the afternoon in the hammock and out in the field walking the dogs. It was so gorgeous outside I couldn't bear to go in. As darkness fell so did the rain.

Sunday brought sleeping in, mountains of laundry and a visit with G and C. They loved Miles. He adored them. It was good to see them. I can say that they are one of those couples that makes my heart happy. They seem very right together. It makes me sad that having a child may be very hard for them to achieve. And they reminded me of something...

Last year, in Sept., I was in Minneapolis for their wedding. During that time, I got to see C's family interacting. They're fun. They love each other. They spend time together. They're progressive. G and C reminded me that I said, standing on their porch in the Twin Cities, that watching the M family made me want to breed. Ahem. Yep. I said that.

I got pregnant right around that time, maybe a few days before that trip. Yep.

Talk about manifesting reality.
