doubts and concerns

So...I just got Ariel Gore’s The Hip Mama’s Survival Guide. I’m looking forward to perusing it since it’s come so highly-recommended and it seems much more honest and sharp and less smarmy than some of the stuff I’ve encountered.

I went to the doctor’s office yesterday to get a massage. (I should note that my regular doc, an osteopath who does cranial-sacral adjustments, and my baby doc are in practice together, as is my massage therapist.) A new mom, baby in her lap, sat nearby in the waiting room. I didn’t feel all excited or curious or coo-ey. Am I an alien? I’ve never been one to go goofy over all children, just a few here and there, but I worry that I’m not...I don’t know...something...
